WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO
YOU!”

Reader: Surely, the very admonition of the previous page from The Hand of The Spirit of Truth Himself:

That we should swing in purity in the Laws of God so that we do not harm our fellow-men --- would have effectively wrought from humanity what you read in the above Title! But No!

The “Golden Rule” of The Book of Leviticus 19:18 was quoted by Jesus (Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31) and described by Him as akin to the second great Commandment vis-à-vis, to; “Love thy neighbour...”. The more common English phrasing of the reproach we are focussed on is: “Do for others what you would want them to do for you”.

Simple enough, don’t you think? The great Divine Admonition that should have always been the human “catchword” for harmony between all peoples.

That is the critical key to really understanding why the above “message” --- which has now become, in the end, an admonishing warning to all peoples --- was restated by The Son of God, for He was not the first to bring it to the attention of the people to whom it was first given. And that is one of humankind’s great tragedies, for it was The Will of God that all peoples on earth consciously live that Commandment.

To ensure that such was the case, every one of the great Truth-bringers --- Krishna, Lao-Tse, Buddha, Zoroaster, Mohammed, Moses and the Old Testament Prophets etc., they --- in the distilled essence of all their Teachings, proclaimed that very Commandment. Jesus, of course, brought more --- the full knowledge of Divine Creation-Law!

So not one race, not one religion --- where the relevant peoples were gifted the great Truths brought to them by those especial men --- can therefore claim to not know that essential admonition! What should thus have been an ongoing collective human ethos of goodwill towards each other died a very long time ago!

Historically, we know that on the one hand there has always been human willingness to help others, as is the case today when tragedy strikes. And that in most countries there are many service organisations such as Fire and Civil Defence etc. specifically set up to respond to emergencies. Volunteer groups such as the Red Cross and Islamic Red Crescent also offer their brand of critical assistance.

In the West, many Christian congregations will also band together to help others when needed, and all of these “good works” have the beneficial effect of generating harmonious goodwill --- exactly as the great Biblical Admonition enjoins. In addition, it perfectly resonates with the words of The Son of God: “Inasmuch as ye have done it for others, ye have done it for me!”

The element of good will and compassion demonstrated thus encompasses the essence of “Love for one’s fellow man”. For, in truth, good will always be good, irrespective of the race or religion of the person/people who so offer it to others. Then the best of human nature is revealed. But that is not what we mean.

For whilst we certainly acknowledge all those good human actions as being the right thing to do, nonetheless; the prime human requirement was always to seek first the Truth contained within The Divine Laws of Creation. In resonance, what should be perfectly clear is that acts of goodwill instituted under the recognition and aegis of that Higher Knowledge inherently then carries with it a greater “consciousness of knowing”, thus far in excess of what would have been the case previous to “not knowing”.

Therefore, if we do not place that essential “first requirement” as our primary consideration, then all the goodwill in the world cannot ever close the gap on what is effectively a huge chasm barring our way to Final Truth and its beneficent help in our spiritual ascent.

Noting the obvious criticality of the Title of this Work; what we mean by our explanation of “Do For Others...” --- actually translates to the reality of what we have not done for each other for as long as we have been upright on our “blue-planet home”.

Throughout our long tenure on earth --- and even despite that serious admonition again and again being restated to us at regular intervals by especial and enlightened men --- we yet willingly sought and lived a long, blood-soaked history of war, blood, slavery, and exploitation and, of course, as is glaringly obvious in real time, nothing has really changed.

Those “charges” now take the form of more insidious practices, by which devious “national security agencies” ensure that there will never be such a thing as a harmonious humanity.

The American C.I.A. versus Russian, Chinese, and Iranian “security agencies” and whomever else America deems a threat to America’s “national/global interests”. In the region of the world where the three “monotheistic” religions were born, Israel’s Mossad “security apparatus” versus all Arab nations; and radical Islamists versus everyone else outside of their religious compass.

All such “organisations” cry that they exist to “protect their people”, yet it is all lies, deceit and terrible hypocrisy, for not one of them has ever lived the essential mantra of “Do for others”! Yet it is the very one that would have automatically gifted goodwill and harmony to the world. In terms of the antithesis of doing good for others, the perhaps “tongue-in-cheek” reply by Jesus to His Disciples best sums it up. During His instructions to them that “evil comes out of the mouths of men”. He further reinforced it with the sage Truth that “Even the wicked love each other”!

The unforgettable year of 2020 surely saw the greatest example of the essential Command to “Do Unto Others...” in its noblest form in the work and sacrifice of medical staff across the globe as they struggled to contain the pestilential Covid 19, to the point of it claiming many of their lives.

Which brings us to the greatest example of Love for one’s fellow man, spoken to the Disciples by The Son of God:

“Greater Love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends!”
(John 15:13. KJ.V.)
