THE “SPIRIT OF TRUTH”:

In the lead-up to this first Discourse, we have well-begun the process of defining “Who” and/or “What” The “Spirit of Truth” really is. We have briefly looked at the Islamic view and the Christian one and noted “Who” those two religions state He is, but we have not as yet delved into other faiths and cultures that also await a “Spirit of Truth”. As a ‘lead-in’ to dissecting those claims/beliefs of the Monotheistic religions, let’s first very briefly look at other basic views for a rough comparison. One author we will use in this segment, Donna M. Brown, rightly observes:

“There is the question of terminology – the Spirit, the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit of Christ.” She states that: “All these terms refer to the activity of God in the world.”

There is a further dimension to the ‘concept’ of a/the “Spirit of Truth” in the Christian sense if we also couple that Title/Entity to an ‘expected Coming’. To recap; if an amorphous entity, then “Spirit of Truth” resonates perfectly, but if physically incarnated, then other Titles and/or notions must inevitably arise for we know that such a Coming must also bring the promised and associated All- Truth. So: Messiah, Promised Messiah, Eternal Mediator and Son of Man are some Titles that find their way into End-Time discourse from just a Biblical perspective.
